Public Prosecutors ordered the “Makedonija Lek” pharmaceutical company not to destroy the batch of MMR vaccines which were put in distribution after their expiry date.
The company insisted that the vaccines were mislabeled and can still be used, but after the announcement cause outrage in the public and eroded trust in the vaccination process, the company said they will be destroyed.
Now, the prosecutors demand that the vaccines are kept until the investigation is complete.
We are acting on a case after we received reports and we will fully clarify the situation, the Public Prosecutor’s Office informed.
The expired vaccine scare was part of a series of events which eroded public trust, culminating Healthcare Minister Venko Filipce’s decision to fake-vaccinate his niece in a bizarre PR stunt.
