I met with Angelina Eichhorst, Director for Western Europe, the Western Balkans and Turkey, and Genoveva Ruiz Calavera, Director for Western Balkans at the Directorate General for European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations, and Samuel Zbogar, EU Ambassador to the Republic of Macedonia, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski wrote on Facebook.
He briefed them on the current political situation as well as the European perspective of the Republic of Macedonia.
I emphasized that the strategic goal and priority of VMRO-DPMNE is full membership of the Republic of Macedonia in the European family. I briefed the interlocutors on the high level of corruption as well as on the criminal scandals involving government officials, but also SDSM, pointing out that these scandals must have legal resolution if we are to have the rule of law and a legal state. I also expressed concern about the reforms, as Macedonia has the weakest results in the field of reforms that are essential for the further development of the country, adding that this government of SDSM and Zaev do not have the capacity to implement the necessary reforms. The interlocutors agreed that the key immediate priority and interest of the Republic of Macedonia is to start accession negotiations as soon as possible, as well as further cooperation of VMRO-DPMNE with senior European officials, stressed Mickoski on Facebook..
