Politicians are known to ruin a fad by embracing it, and Skopje Mayor Petre Silegov proved this when he adopted the hip electric scooters which are profligating across the Macedonian capital.

And this weekend he tried to get his mobility game up a notch by driving a Segway. It didn’t go well.

After providing amusement to the idle social media users for the day, hours later Silegov made sure to post a picture showing that he mastered the device.

Commentators noted that the Mayor, who is frequently sen inebriated in public, will now be less of a threat to other commuters using an electric novelty transportation device, than behind the wheel of a car.
