Orthodox Christians in Macedonia commemorate Maundy Thursday today, as the start of the Easter holidays. The day marks the last supper, Christ’s betrayal by Judas and his agony in the garden of Gethsemane.
The day is traditionally marked in Macedonia with the painting of eggs which will be broken on Easter to symbolize the resurrection of Christ. This year, the holidays are being marked under a curfew, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
