Former Finance Minister Xhvedet Hajredini warned that 40 percent of all EU spending in Macedonia is misappropriated. His statement comes after former Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov was charged, apparently with corruption involving EU funds.

According to a report from EU mediator Peter van Hoyte, in Macedonia too, 40 percent of the EU funds are abused, Hajredini said.
Macedonia receives meager EU funding compared to neighboring countries that are members of the Union, but due to the high levels of corruption, there is widespread suspicion of fraud.
