Social media users are reporting about vote buying attempts in Resen, where the citizens vote in a mayoral run-off tomorrow.
According to the reports, activists from a political party are set up in the “Dve Liri” restaurant, guarded by the local police, and are giving money to local poor citizens – mainly Roma. The would-be voters are required to leave their identity cards in exchange for the cash – indication that the distrustful party activists plan to have someone else will vote in the place of the actual voters.
The reports come as an Infomax news crew was attacked in Kocani while filming similar activities in the Roma part of the city. Because of the law banning political reporting a day before the elections, Republika is not able to report which party is organizing these activities and attacking the press.
