Unperturbed by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev’s threat of purges of corrupt and incompetent officials, Skopje Mayor Petre Silegov was photographed at Camp Nou, apparently during the Champions League game between Barcelona and Liverpool yesterday

Silegov picked a strange time to be out of the country, as his party’s presidential candidate Stevo Pendarovski struggles in the polls and lost 2/5 of the total votes the SDSM – DUI coalition had in the 2017 municipal elections. This has prompted an all hand on deck call from Zaev, and Silegov initially had cameras film him while he was picking cigarette butts one at a time, near a huge dumping site in central Skopje. On top of his political obligations, Skopje is also preparing for its first papal visit in recent history. But, apparently football comes first for the Mayor.
