Bulgarian Trud paper reports that the talks between Macedonian and Bulgarian historians have yielded no result. Bulgarian historians are blaming their Macedonian counterparts of refusing to budge and accept their proposals, even after Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, in his BGNES interview, publicly accepted all Bulgarian positions, but this apparently hasn’t trickled down to the committee of historians.
Either the committee is lying to Zoran Zaev, or he lies to everybody around, Trud cites a Bulgarian source involved in the talks.
The teams of historians from Macedonia and Bulgaria are debating the heritage of medieval Tsar Samoil. Bulgaria wants Macedonian history books to declare Samoil to have been a Bulgarian king. This was considered one of the easier tasks by Bulgaria, as other periods, mainly the period of national struggle against the Ottomans and now the Second World War became far more divisive.
