US President Donald Trump gave a strong State of the Union address before the Congress, declaring that America will never be socialist, in response to the rising far left caucus in the Democratic Party. Trump accused the left of hurting the working class with their push for open borders and of trying to remove all restrictions on abortion, even to the point of birth of the baby. In another line of confrontation with Washington politicians of both parties, Trump doubled down on his foreign policy that would move the US further from global conflicts.

An economic miracle is taking place in the United States, and the only thing that can stop it are foolish wars, politics or ridiculous partisan investigations, Trump said.

As expected he spoke longest about illegal immigration and his proposed southern border wall — his signature campaign promise, and the issue at the center of his recent standoff with Congress during which the Government was briefly shut down. He’d also teased in advance of the address a threat to declare a national emergency on the border, to circumvent Congress altogether and divert existing funds from other purposes to wall construction. The president declined to announce such a declaration, which Republican leaders have warned against, fearful that the precedent could be used by future Democratic presidents.

No issue better illustrates the divide between America’s working class and America’s political class. Wealthy politicians and donors push for open borders while living their lives behind walls and gates and guards, Trump said, flanked by his Vice President Mike Pence and the Democratic leader in the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.

The Democratic congresswomen came all dressed in white, most notable among them the socialist Alexandria Ocasio Cortez – a rising star in the Democratic Party.

We stand with the Venezuelan people in their noble quest for freedom — and we condemn the brutality of the Maduro regime, whose socialist policies have turned that nation from being the wealthiest in South America into a state of abject poverty and despair. Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country. America was founded on liberty and independence – not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free, and we will stay free. Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country, Trump declared, drawing a noticeable frown from Bernie Sanders, another socialist in the Democratic Party.

The abortion line came after moves in New York and Virginia to adopt laws allowing abortion up to the point of birth, even after birth, as now disgraced Virginia Governor Ralph Northam proposed.

He would execute a baby after birth, Trump said, calling the laws “chilling”. The President called for federal laws that would ban late term abortion and abortion in instances when the child can feel pain.
