Sreten Raskovik and Stevan Stevanovik, the two Serbian sportscasters for the Arena sports channel, promised to come to Macedonia if Vardar wins the European handball Champions League.
No Macedonian TV channel purchased the rights to broadcast the league, and as a result, most Macedonians are watching the Vardar games through the Arena cable package, or online, again listening to the Arena commentators.
Vardar is worn out physically and mentally, but they are having a fairy tale championship. Veszprem will enter the finals with a cool head. Vardar is now the most dangerous team in the world. This will be an amazing game, Raskovik said before the final game started.
As if the viewers couldn’t tell by their frantic shouting whenever Vardar scores, both Raskovik and Stevanovik acknowledge that they are rooting for Vardar, as the team is fighting off a series of problems to make it to the finals. Vardar had a five goals lead at the halftime and is hanging on to a 2-3 goals lead by the middle of the second half, and both commentators promise that if the Macedonian team wins, they’ll be in Skopje for what will definitely be a national celebration of a welcoming ceremony.
