The popular television series “Sex and the City” star Frances Sternhagen passed away. Sternhagen passed away quietly, surrounded by loved ones, from natural causes, according to a statement from her family.

“We continue to be inspired by her love and life,” the statement reads.

The two-time Tony Award winner was well-known for her appearances in Cheers, On Golden Lake, and The Heiress in addition to becoming Charlotte York’s mother-in-law on Sex and the City. In addition to winning accolades, the actress was nominated for numerous more films, including “The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window” in 1972, “Angel” in 1978, and “The Morning at Seven” in 2002.

The District of Columbia is where Frances Hussey Sternhagen was born on January 13, 2013. Her father, John M. Sternhagen, was a judge of the United States Tax Court. Her mother, Gertrude, was a socialist who served as a nurse during the First World War.
