Although he gave the order Macedonia to formally change its the name, the names of the national institutions and with the Prespa Agreement accepted unprecedented things that are unprecedented in international law, official Athens finds reasons to be angry with the Macedonian Prime Minister Zaev.
After an unofficial investigation was conducted in the past few days, the government of Tsipras believes that Zaev consciously participated in an event promoting irredentism at the expense of Greece.
The absurdity to be bigger, the event for which Zaev is accused of being a provocation, which was pointed out in Athens on Sunday, took place on June 25, and was organized in the Macedonian Opera and Ballet, or now renamed into National Opera and Ballet.
The concert marking the 70th anniversary of the Tanec national ensemble was attended by Prime Minister Zaev, Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski, SDSM Secretary General Ljupco Nikolovski and the Director of the Public Revenue Office Sanja Lukarovska.
Greek sources do not reveal what kind of mistake Zaev did while attending an event marking seven decades of the top national folklore ensemble that promotes Macedonian folklore, culture and history on all continents.
The director is appointed by the government led by Zaev, and what could be seen at the concert is similar to the provocations that Gruevski made, say sources that announce that this issue may be discussed in informal contacts with the government in Skopje, and if there is no satisfactory response and apology then there may be formal diplomatic communication between the two countries.
Tsipras’ government, due to the low rating, is in a difficult situation ahead of early parliamentary elections in Greece and Zaev’s move to participate in an “irredentist” event as claimed in Atina is a blow to SYRIZA and a signal that in the future there may be another disregard for the Prespa Agreement.
