Australia based writer Bozin Pavlovski condemned the way the census was organized in the diaspora. The large and outspokenly patriotic Macedonian community in Australia either boycotted or was shunned during the census, in which the ethnic Albanian community in Europe was massively included, leading to badly skewed results that showed Albanians outnumbering Macedonians in the diaspora by almost 3:1.

This was all organized by DUI party leader Ali Ahmeti and his officials Artan Grubi and Bujar Osmani, who personally went to countries with large Albanian communities – presumably at public expense. This resulted in major success for them. Ali Ahmeti can barely contain his glee, Pavlovski said.
