The COVID-19 situation in schools is absolutely stable. The number of positive cases on a daily basis ranges between 0.01 and 0.03 percent, while the total number of active cases stands at about 0.3 percent of 255,000 students attending in-person instruction, said Minister of Education and Science Mila Carovska on Monday.

Carovska added that due to the stable situation, the first scenario remains, ie physical presence and that the situation is constantly monitored.

If the Commission for Infectious Diseases still has different information and if something different happens, the Ministry of Education and Science is ready to react and change the scenario, ie the teaching model. Until then, the students’ greatest interest is for the schools to be open, said Carovska.

Regarding vaccination, Carovska, as last week, reiterated that about 75% of teachers are vaccinated and that it is almost twice the national average of vaccinated. She pointed out that there is no significant resistance among education staff who, like the public sector, will be covered by the measure proposed by the Commission for Infectious Diseases for mandatory vaccination or presenting a negative PCR test once a week.
