Irina Panovska, acting director of the Skopje Hematology Clinic, was charged by the Anti-Corruption Commission after she failed to provide her financial report in time.

Panovska, the daughter of one of the main pharma distributors in Macedonia, was appointed to the position in August 2017. Since then she signed numerous lucrative contracts with her father’s company, which raised calls to Healthcare Minister Venko Filipce to rein in on this possible corruption case.

The charges are administrative, since she failed to submit her financial report until May this year, although she was re-appointed as acting director four times since the first appointment. The procurement contracts she approved are being investigated as a separate case.
