A Skopje Court asked the Parliament today to revoke former Parliament Speaker Trajko Veljanoski’s immunity, after he was charged by the state prosecutors on Wednesday.

Veljanoski was arrested along with former Government Ministers Mile Janakieski and Spiro Ristovski, who were kept in detention. Veljanoski is still a member of Parliament and has immunity from arrest.

The three are charged in the latest installment of the broad court case over the April 2017 incident in the Parliament. The case was used by the SDSM Government to blackmail VMRO-DPMNE members of Parliament to vote in favor of renaming Macedonia into North Macedonia, and to pressure other political opponents.
