The Skopje Criminal Court is expected to make a decision on whether to release former UBK secret service chief Saso Mijalkov from detention.
Mijalkov was detained last month as part of the investigation into allegedly corrupt business deals. He faces a number of other charges initiated by the Special Prosecutors Office (SPO). This week the SPO unexpectedly asked the court to end the detention of Mijalkov and a number of other political prisoners. Businessmen Orce Kamcev and Cvetan Pandeleski, detained as part of the same investigation, were already released.
The court also ordered the release of former Government officials Mile Janakieski and Kiril Bozinovski, detained in apparent revenge after former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski left the country to receive political asylum in Hungary.
