Vesna Dameva, reinstated as the president of the Judicial Council following the Administrative Court’s nullification of her 2023 dismissal, hailed the ruling as a crucial step toward restoring faith in justice. She expressed hope for rebuilding public trust in the judiciary and emphasized her commitment to truth and justice, irrespective of biases.

Acknowledging the EU’s support through a peer review report, Dameva urged members to heed its insights, treating it as a roadmap for improvement within the Judicial Council.

Addressing expectations of her colleagues’ conduct, Dameva acknowledged the prior mistake rectified by the court ruling. She emphasized the Council’s need to function seamlessly without obstructions and warned of legal consequences for any member impeding its operations.

Regarding the Council’s legitimacy, Dameva highlighted that her dismissal wasn’t a unanimous decision, stressing that any dismissal of a member must follow legal procedures outlined by the law.
