The center right EPP party adopted a resolution that calls for the opening of EU accession talks with Macedonia and Albnaia. EPP also demands free and fair elections in Macedonia from the Zaev regime.

Dismantlement of the enlargement policy might lead to increasingly unstable situation in the EU’s immediate neighbourhood and could allow foreign actors, whose activity might not be in line with EU values and interest, to engage more closely with both “North” Macedonia and Albania”, the document reads.

Regarding Macedonia in particular, the large pan-European movement demands that the leftist Zaev Government organizes “free, fair, democratic and credible elections”. In his remarks at the EPP summit in Zagreb, VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski named the violations of democratic values and principles perpetrated by Zaev as a major crisis for the entire EPP family.
