Several minor incidents have been reported during the presidential elections so far. A man in Skopje’s Aerodrom district was detained by the police after he took a picture of his ballot.
This is banned to discourage parties from forcing voters to photograph their ballots, as a means of proving who they voted for.
In Veles, the Alsat TV crew reported that they were prevented from filming close to the courthouse voting stations. The crew had proper credentials, but guards asked them to produce additional credentials from the State Electoral Commission, which the TV crew didn’t have.
A violation of the electoral silence was reported in Struga, where political graffiti were spray painted on a school which serves as a voting station. According to Macedonian law, all campaigning had to cease on Friday at midnight.
