VMRO-DPMNE President, prof. Hristijan Mickoski Ph.D. together with VMRO-DPMNE Vice President Aleksandar Nikoloski, EC member and Secretary for International Cooperation Vlatko Gjorcev and International Secretary Timco Mucunski and Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Hristina Runceva – Tasev is attending a two- day summit of the Europeans People’s Party (EPP) taking place 20-21 November in Zagreb, Croatia.
During the summit, the delegation led by Mickoski held several bilateral meetings with European leaders whose parties are part of the EPP, including with European Commission President and future President of the European People’s Party, Donald Tusk.
At the meeting, Mickoski expressed concern about the situation in the Republic of Macedonia, the lack of justice, the dependent and corrupt justice system, and the growing poverty.
I sought support for the Republic of Macedonia in the field of European integration. Tusk, as a friend of our country, expressed readiness to help on the road to the European Union and to build a deepened partnership and cooperation with VMRO-DPMNE as a member of the European People’s Party. The future VMRO-DPMNE-led government will use all its potentials and friendships to unblock the European path and to implement reforms that will bring about standards, better life and renewal that citizens need, Mickoski said after the meeting.
In Zagreb, Mickoski also met with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic.
We underlined the excellent relations between the two sister parties, and I sought Croatia’s support for Macedonia’s EU integration. I expect excellent cooperation between the future Macedonian Government and the Government of the Republic of Croatia and reforms that will put us on the fast track towards the EU, Mickoski said.
The President of VMRO-DPMNE also met today with EU Commissioner Jirky Katainen, Vice-President of the European Commission for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness and former Prime Minister of Finland.
At the meeting, they discussed the new technologies and investments of the EU and the opportunities and prospects for development of the Republic of Macedonia in this field.
Mickoski will also address European leaders during the EPP summit.
The summit is be attended by a number of European leaders such as current EPP President Joseph Daul, outgoing European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, future European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz.
