Among the people gathering to help victims of the powerful quake that hit Albania was Macedonian member of Parliament Vladimir Gjorcev.

The VMRO-DPMNE official was in Tirana for a conference when the earthquake hit, and all the participants left for the worst damaged city of Durres.

We help unload some of the assistance that was arriving and we remain here ready to help with the debris clean up. It’s a horrible site, so many human tragedies, but also humanity is at its best display. Skopje is a city that was built up from the ashes of an earthquake, and it is our obligation to help others. Macedonia is a good neighbor, Gjorcev said.

Macedonia dispatched a 40 men search and rescue crew and also approved immediate financial assistance for Albania.
