VMRO-DPMNE presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova called on her supporters to carry her good first round results to a victory in the second round scheduled for May 5th. Siljanovska and the ruling SDSM – DUI coalition candidate Stevo Pendarovski were within a few decimal points of each other after the narrow first round and the tremendous drop in support for SDSM put Zoran Zaev’s Government on a very slippery slope.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You came out in large numbers, in all parts of the country, from all ethnic and religious backgrounds. We united in demand for rule of law and justice, in resistance to the injustice and lawlessness. We will not stop there. Macedonia will either achieve democracy and rule of law, or we will succumb to those who believe that ends justify the means and want to concentrate all power in their hands in an authoritarian, North Macedonia. We fight for Macedonia which will is democratic and for citizens who are not afraid to take responsibility for their future, Siljanovska wrote in a social media comment.
The opposition candidate called on her supporters to go to their friends, relatives, colleagues from the workplace, “all those who we could not persuade to come out and vote yesterday – ask them to do so on May 5th”.
