Greek nationalists damaged a vehicle with Macedonian license plates in Solun/Thessaloniki over the weekend.

The car was parked close to the port, and was vandalized by a group of protesters who were marching against the Prespa agreement. They pelted it with eggs and ripped out the license plates.

Such attacks on parked Macedonian vehicles and even truck drivers are common in Greece. The two Governments insisted that the the deal to rename Macedonia will improve ties between the two countries, but it sparked mass protests in Greece, and even the killing of an Albanian citizen in Corfu, after a dispute over the Macedonian name and Greek – Albanian disputes.

Under the agreement, Macedonia will have to replace the license plates code MK with NM or NMK.
