New European-level cooperation in the field of civil engineering has been launched, thanks to a media conference organized at the initiative of Hungary, which opened a new dimension for networking and journalistic cooperation.

The conference was held in the Hungarian city of Kecskemet, where representatives of media from 7 countries met over the weekend. The effort initiated by Magyar Építők and the Reagan Group aims to create a European network of connections, which uses the opportunities for collaboration. The organizers’ intentions in establishing the initiative are to help media workers and construction companies join the Alliance to network and establish communication channels.

The event began with the speech of State Secretary Laszlo Moczoczi, representing the Hungarian Minister of Informatics and Technology, László Palkovics, the patron of the conference. The State Secretary for Transport Policy stressed that the Hungarian construction sector grew by 85% between 2016 and 2018, and its share in Gross Domestic Product is continually increasing.

The State Secretary also stressed the significance of the event:

It is very important to share information, to inform everyone about the development of the construction sectors of countries close to our borders, as well as those farther away. The dynamic growth that the sector now faces makes the necessary technological innovations, which can be used largely through media cooperation from other countries.

The conference continued with presentations from the organizations that were part of the event. After the seminar, participants signed a document composed of 21 points as the basis for future cooperation. In order to achieve these goals, a non-profit organization was established. Ákos Szabó, editor-in-chief of the Magyar Építők, was elected as the first president of the new organization.

The next “Building Connections” conference will take place in Bulgaria in May 2020.
