Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski dismissed the concerns of opposition voters and citizens who disagree with his policies as “histerics”. Speaking to the press, Kovacevski said that the opposition “VMRO-DPMNE party creates hysteria with regard to the on-going talks with Bulgaria”.

It’s a continuation of the practice of his predecessor Zoran Zaev, to dismiss concerns with insulting comments. Zaev would refer to the opposition as “evil” and threatened to “eat people alive” once he is in office – a threat he largely kept, considering the extent of the politically driver persecution campaign he initiated. SDSM officials and supporters often refer to the opposition as “unwashed”, illiterates and in the case of President Pendarovski – cattle.

And yet, the concerns of the “unwashed” have largely come true. Macedonia made huge concessions to its neighbors and to the ethnic minority Albanians, and in return it got even more demands, insults and the EU integration process – which was supposed to be the main reward for all the concessions – is now hopelessly derailed.
