A new name code for Macedonia was promoted during the NATO summit in London. A print out of the seating arrangement had the Macedonian representatives seated at the far end of the NATO members, under the abbreviation NOM – presumably NOrth Macedonia.

Macedonia usually used MK, MKD or RM – Republic of Macedonia, but after the imposed name change, it was expected that new codes will be put in use, a frequent one being RNM for Republic of North Macedonia.
