Skopje, Kavadarci, Gostivar, Veles, Kumanovo and Tetovo all have air pollution levels well above the maximum allowed limit.
Kavardarci yesterday had an evening concentration of PM-10 particles nine times above the limit. Gostivar was seven times above the limit, while Lisice, the eastern Skopje suburb which is notorious for its poor air quality over winter, was 6 times over the limit.

The situation is similar in the mornings, with a brief respite around noon, when the air clears somewhat. The chronic problem of air pollution is causing many respiratory ailments in Skopje, and is now contributing to the huge spike in coronavirus cases.
