Accounting for population, the 21 Covid-19 deaths Macedonia had yesterday would amount to 600 in Italy. That would be even to one of the worst death rates during the early stages of the epidemic in Italy, which panicked the country and the world into lockdowns.
Macedonia has seen a major spike in cases and deaths over the past month and a half, as the weather got colder and citizens are more and more affected by the virus. What was once the worst daily infection rate of 250 citizens, would now be considered a mercifully calm day – the number of daily infections reaches a 1,000. The number of deaths is catching up with the hugely elevated infection rate and Macedonia already saw several days with more than 20 Covid-19 deaths.
