VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski said that Zoran Zaev’s decision to withdraw his own nomination as Finance Minister was not driven by his honesty, but by the fact that the appointment would have been illegal.
The law states that Zoran Zaev can’t be a Prime Minister and a Finance Minister, Mickoski wrote on his social media accounts, citing the relevant article of the law banning conflict of interest and corruption in the public sector.
Mickoski added that the episode with Zaev’s failed self-appointment should be used to examine the “lucrative and criminal ambitions” of Zaev and his attempt to “directly manage the finances”.
