Opposition leader Hristijan Mickoski called on Zoran Zaev to resign for their incompetence in managing the coronavirus crisis, as Macedonia had its worst daily death toll of the epidemic so far – with 30 deceased patients. Mickoski expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, saying that “the number is way too high and things need to change”.
I’m convinced that, with a different organization, the Healthcare Ministry and the Government could have been better prepared for the autumn Covid-19 wave and would’ve saved more lives. What the Government is doing right now is not enough. Lives are being lost and the Government clearly can’t respond to this complex pandemic. It would be more honest on their part if they resigned, than we keep losing lives because of their incompetence, Mickoski said.
VMRO-DPMNE has been calling for a while that a broad, non-partisan committee of experts is created to manage the crisis. As it deepens, the opposition party is now calling for a Government of experts to replace Zaev’s cabinet.
