Today I met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Macedonia, Dirk Jan Kop. At the meeting we discussed the current political and economic situation, as well as the strategic and reform processes that are of great importance for the future of the Republic of Macedonia.
I briefed the Dutch ambassador on a series of corruption scandals involving government officials and the SDSM. And I emphasized the need for a speedy and efficient resolution of the Racket 1 and Racket 2 cases in which everyone involved would be held accountable for what they did.
We agreed that the rule of law is crucial for the future of the Republic of Macedonia primarily because of the realization of the strategic interest of the state in obtaining a date for negotiations with the European Union and our membership in the Union. I also stressed the importance of the assistance and support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Macedonia in the field of judicial reform, public administration and the rule of law, but that a government that would seriously embark on reforms to achieve VMRO-DPMNE and the Republic of Macedonia‘s strategic commitment for EU membership was essential, wrote VMRO DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski.
