Given the series of politically driven arrests, VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski said that he has prepared his family that he could be arrested at any time.

During the presidential campaign, the candidate and the leader of the ruling party both bragged not with infrastructure projects but with the 750 criminal cases initiated against VMRO-DPMNE members. This made it clear that Zoran Zaev and the group around him have the judiciary and the prosecutors under control. It is clear that part of their scenarios is to detain me as VMRO-DPMNE President and my closest associates. I appeal to the citizens not to be driven by emotions if that happens. We have a clear plan, I’m aware it can happen and I’ve discussed this possibility with my family. There are special police unit forces sniffing around my house, under the excuse of observing the nearby school yard. I’m ready and there is no doubt about the end goal of this Government, Mickoski said.

Recently the police arrested a number of VMRO-DPMNE officials, including Executive Committee member Dimitar Dimovski and Dejan Mitrevski, who runs the party’s large branch in Aerodrom.

The charges are filed by a prosecutor who is the sister of a former SDSM party official. Given what was happening in the court that day, the ferocity with which they are attacking VMRO-DPMNE and want to shut down any critical thinking was clear, Mickoski added during an interview with Alfa TV.
