VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski announced that the opposition party has won its first battle against the Zoran Zaev regime – preserving itself as the largest political power in the country in light of Zaev’s campaign of political persecution, and announced a new phase – approaching the public in preparation of the coming early general elections.
Over the past 20 years, our main taks was to protect VMRO-DPMNE, to make it strong again, proud and victorious, as the largest political power in the Republic of Macedonia. We defeated them in this fight. Now, on the second front, our task will be to be out in the streets, among our neighbors, friends, colleagues, relatives, to ask them to join us in the struggle to preserve the Republic of Macedonia. We are months away from the day when we will face the citizens, and when VMRO will unite us all in a major victory at the coming early general elections, Mickoski said in a video address published today.
Over the past years the party faced an unprecedented level of politically driven criminal charges and persecution of its officials and activists. Never the less, VMRO managed to compete more than well against nearly all the other major political parties combined at the recent presidential elections, and with a large corruption scandal developing daily, the party feels it is well placed ahead of the general elections expected in 2020.
Zaev’s revolution turned into a a mangled dictatorship in which journalists are brought before the courts for criticizing the Government, public procurement contracts are used to line private pockets and the Prime Minister has checked out of reality. The main activity of their mayors is to distinguish themselves before their despot by scraping away the 16 ray star, as if it is a criminal symbol, and not the historic amblem of our nation. They compete who can erase more stars, instead of working to improve the lives of the people, Mickoski said, referring to Zaev’s campaign to remove the Star of Kutlesh across Macedonia.
