VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski responded to the announcement from the Government that it will return to the old model of calculating pensions, that will take into account the cost of living and the increase in the minimum wage. Mickoski said that the model was in place until 2018, when it was thrown out by the same SDSM led Government.
They stole from the retirees three years ago and are now reverting the damage they did and want to portray it as some kind of an innovative model borrowed from Switzerland. The only thing Swiss about it are the ski resorts SDSM officials go to. In essence, what is now being introduced was in force until 2018, but was thrown out by Zoran Zaev and Mila Carovska, Mickoski said.
The opposition leader added that VMRO-DPMNE is proposing far more meaningful changes to the way the retirement income is being calculated, but they are blocked in Parliament by the ruling coalition.
