Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani participated in the 8th Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) in Barcelona, addressing the Israel-Palestine situation and its implications for the Middle East. Invited by EU High Representative Josep Borrell and Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi, discussions emphasized the need for diplomatic solutions for long-term stability in the aftermath of the conflict. Minister Osmani stressed the importance of ensuring peace and stability in Israel, Palestinian territories, and the broader region through sustained diplomatic efforts. “We must not allow the unfortunate developments to undermine the basic principles and goals of this organization, and cast a shadow on current achievements. On the contrary, we must be even more committed and find a way to encourage mutual cooperation, dialogue and trust. I strongly believe that there is no other alternative – this is the only way forward,” Osmani stressed. He states that, at this stage, it is crucial to guarantee the continuous delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza’s citizens without going against international humanitarian law. He demanded the prompt release of the other prisoners and praised the hostages who had been freed from the Gaza Strip as part of the interim ceasefire arrangement.
