U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday wrapped up his day-long official visit to Macedonia and traveled to Athens later in the afternoon.
During his visit, Pompeo met with President Stevo Pendarovski and Prime Minister Zoran Zaev in Ohrid, where they reaffirmed the strategic partnership between the two countries and US support for Macedonia’s NATO and EU integration.
The US Secretary of State concluded his visit to Ohrid with a visit to the Church of the Holy Mother of God Peribleptos, which was renovated and protected with funds provided through the Ambassadors Fund and USAID programs.
Macedonia was the fourth stop of the US Secretary of State’s mini-European tour. He came to the country from Montenegro, while previously he visited Italy and the Vatican. The tour ends with an official visit to Greece.
