President Stevo Pendarovski held Tuesday a meeting with Albania’s Ambassador to Macedonia Fatos Reka.
At the meeting, the two interlocutors concluded that the overall relations between Macedonia and Albania, characterized by sincere friendship and mutual understanding, showed positive development with continuous dialogue.
President Pendarovski stressed that in the future the two countries should commit themselves to promote bilateral co-operation, especially in the field of economy and the increase of trade exchange, as well as the implementation of infrastructure projects that connect Macedonia and Albania.
Regarding the European integration process, President Pendarovski emphasized that it is necessary for the European Union to validate the efforts of the two countries by setting a date for the start of accession negotiations. This will contribute to further regional consolidation and cooperation between the countries, it was stressed at the meeting.
The interlocutors stressed that Macedonia and Albania share identical foreign policy goals. Both countries are committed to building good neighborly relations and cooperation within regional initiatives.
Ambassador Fatos Reka congratulated President Pendarovski on taking office and wished him success, expressing confidence for further enahncement of bilateral cooperation in all fields of mutual interest.
