A new petition, with a reduced list of representatives, was sent to Parliament to demand a vote of no confidence in the Zaev Government. It’s unclear whether Speaker Talat Xhaferi will accept this petition, as one is already filed with the votes of 61 representatives.
It only takes 20 representatives to schedule a vote of no confidence, but the opposition bloc submitted 61 as it wanted to show that the motion is certain to succeed. This caused a problem after Skender Rexhepi, representative of the ethnic Albanian Alternative party, said that he disagrees with being named on the same list with the two representatives from the Levica party. On the new list, two dozen representatives are not mentioned, including the Levica MPs. Antonio Milososki from VMRO-DPMNE said that there is possibility under the rules of Parliament to revise a petition after itwas submitted, and added that he expects more than the original 61 representatives to vote against Zaev.
Doubts over Alternative were dispelled today when all party representatives said that they will vote to bring down the Zaev Government tomorrow, and their issues with Levica will be left for further down the road, if the opposition bloc begins putting together a new ruling coalition.
