The court sentenced Friday Saso Mijalkov to three years in prison, and Menduh Thaci to 3 years and 2 months in the “Titanic 2” case.
Of the former members of the SEC who are defendants in the case, Bedretin Ibraimi was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison, while Aneta Stefanovska, Vlatko Sajkovski and Saso Srcev were sentenced to three years.
It is a first-instance verdict, they have the right to appeal to the Court of Appeal in Skopje, which when pronounced, the verdict becomes final.
This is the first case of SPOin which a verdict has been pronounced, and in which the former director of the UBK, Saso Mijalkov is a defendant, as well as the DPA leader Menduh Thaci.
The investigation into the Titanic 2 case was opened more than three years ago on February 12, 2016, and the SPO indictment was filed at the notice of 18 months, on June 29, 2017. The trial began in April last year.
