In an interview with Press24, opposition presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova announced she will work to speed up the EU and NATO integration of Macedonia, while setting a commission to examine the Prespa treaty and outline all its articles that are in violation of international law.

My first task as President will be to form a small but highly competent cabinet. I will engage in the on-going processes of NATO integration and I will have oversight over the EU integration, where I want to help. The third talks will be to form commissions made up of domestic and international experts who will re-examine all the deficiencies in our Constitution and will propose constitutional reforms. Lastly, a commission will determine the grounds for nullification of the Prespa treaty, an issue which top international law experts from the United States have already raised, Siljanovska said.

She condemned the Zoran Zaev Government as deaf before the will of the people, after Zaev ignored the outcome of the September 2018 referendum.

In response, I will have to be loud, active and to use all the available ways of warning, alarming the public, said Siljanovska.

The law professor expects that the ugly campaign from the ruling coalition, which included posting pictures of her son in an attempt to shame her, will continue. Part of the campaign included attacking Siljanovska for her looks or dress code. “I admit, I’m having an argument with my team over my wardrobe. Some other woman candidate would probably have flown to Paris before the campaign to buy new clothes, but frankly, it never crossed my mind. I wish to remain modest and the campaign will not change my worldview”.
