Since July 1, a total of 385 applications have been submitted to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg by citizens of Macedonia, Hartmut Rank, the Director of the Rule of Law Program South East Europe said at Wednesday’s expert meeting on “European standards in the field of human rights – Enforcement of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights ”.

According to him, this figure does not sound alarming given the number of thousands of requests submitted to the ECHR by other states.

But, as he added, the figure is alarming when compared to the number of applications from other countries in terms of population.

In 2018, a total of 12 decisions of the ECHR against Macedonia were adopted and at least one citizen’s right was violated, Rank said.
