The city of Skopje today marks the anniversary of its liberation in World War Two. Macedonian partisan forced took the city from German units that were guarding the main railway line to secure the withdrawal from Greece. Fighting was most fierce around the Matka canyon and in the city along the railway line.

Mayor Danela Arsovska will meet with veterans from the war and will honor General Mihajlo Apostolski at his gravesite in the Butel cemetery.
