I think the problem is much bigger, Macedonian diplomacy is continuously facing problems. A number of important ambassadorial posts have not been filled. First of all, I mean Washington, US as the number one strategic partner where we have not had an ambassador for four years with the departure of the previous ambassador Vasko Naumoski and no new ambassador has been appointed, which is a scandal in itself. And to leave the key Macedonian embassy empty. Furthermore, other important embassies are left empty. We have a serious problem with Bulgaria with the departure of Ambassador Marjan Gjorcev, also the embassy in Sofia is left empty, said Aleksandar Nikoloski, Vice President of VMRO-DPMNE in an interview with TV Kanal 5.
Nikoloski added that Belgrade, for example, had a huge scandal with the person who was to be sent.
And now this is the tip of the iceberg that Macedonian diplomacy is hitting. Because not only through trading but the absence of any selection process, persons are nominated as they are nominated. In my opinion, the biggest scandal is that the process is conducted completely out of the public eye, explained Nikoloski.
Nikoloski pointed out that there are indications of violation of the Law on Foreign Affairs, because Article 49 which refers to the referral of consuls, which is a diplomatic title under the ambassador, means Macedonia has embassies and has consulates, says that a consul can be sent a person who is a senior diplomat within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Which is not the case here. Or if this is not the case, as an exception, a person who is highly affirmed in the public and who is highly affirmed in international relations can be sent, and the public will certainly agree that the person that has been proposed is not that kind of person.
