Hristijan Mickoski, the leader of VMRO-DPMNE together with Toni Menkinoski, chairman of the party’s legal committee, met Monday with Swedish Ambassador Kristin Forsgren Bengtsson.
The meeting focused on the current political developments in the Republic of Macedonia, the challenges our country faces on the European path and the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
I pointed out that the main strategic commitment of VMRO-DPMNE is the membership in the European Union, and I emphasized that after April 12, the new Government led by VMRO-DPMNE has a plan how to put the Republic of Macedonia on the fast track to EU membership. I emphasized that the biggest problem facing our country is crime and corruption in the highest echelons of power, at the same time this is one of the key challenges for Macedonia on the road to the EU and an argument more for those who are skeptical of further enlargement of the Union. The new government, led by VMRO-DPMNE, will focus on essential reforms of the judiciary and eradication of crime and corruption in the Republic of Macedonia, Mickoski said after the meeting.
Mickoski and Swedish Ambassador Kristin Forsgren Bengtsson agreed that the cooperation between the two countries is excellent, but there is room for further deepening of the cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and Sweden.
