The Prespa treaty is not a proper solution and it does not protect the interests of the Republic of Macedonia and of the Macedonian people. As time goes by, we will all begin to realise that, said VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski in an interview with Alfa TV.

I can’t understand the motive of these people who humiliated their nation and their country in this way, Mickoski said, referring to Zoran Zaev and his Government.

Mickoski underlined that before the Prespa treaty, in the United Nations Macedonian citizens were declared as citizens of the Republic of Macedonia and the Macedonian language was fully recognized.

They told us they protected the language and the nationality, but now we see that the term Macedonian no longer applies to the Macedonian people and ethnic group, but is now used for the citizenship only. All our institutions are being renamed, they lose the adjective Macedonian from their names and it is being replaced with “national”. What nation would that be?, Mickoski asked.

The opposition leader said that “no process in history was irreversible”.

Many countries have been forced to capitulate in the past, and in a sense of the word, so did Macedonia. But, many of those countries remained brave, resilient and patient, and are now united and stronger than ever. I say the same to the Macedonian state, the Macedonian people and the Macedonian citizens. If we work honestly and in a principled manner for the future of our country, no process can be irreversible, Mickoski added.
