With two days to go until the inauguration of the new president of the country, Stevo Pendarovski, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev leaves for a 4-day vacation and it is still uncertain whether he will attend the inauguration ceremony in Parliament.
Government spokesperson Mile Bosnjakovski says that for now, the only information is that the prime minister took a few days off for personal reasons.
We have to bear in mind that this is not some teenagers’ party or some local group concert to keep the audience uncertain whether the “star of the evening” will appear. This is the inauguration of the first person in the state for the highest state office, and it is not certain whether the third person in the state will attend, which is scandalous, outrageous and intolerable at the very least.
The attitude towards the institution president of the state is one of the strongest indicators of the degree of political maturity that a country has reached. In fact, it is not even a topic at all in other countries, because there is not such a problem. Only the Macedonian political culture can by no means reach the necessary level.
Pendarovski’s inauguration as the fifth president of the country is likely to take place on Sunday at 12:00 h. One or two hours later, in the presidential palace, outgoing President Gjorge Ivanov will hand over the presidency to Pendarovski, who, practically, will assume office at midnight – between May 12 and 13.
