The beginning of the parliamentary session has been announced for today at 11 am, at which a vote of no confidence in the Government of Prime Minister Zoran Zaev should be held before midnight at the latest.

The motion for a vote of no confidence in the Government with 61 signatures was submitted by the opposition VMRO-DPMNE and the coalition, Alliance for Albanians and Alternative, Levica and Besa, which was in a coalition with SDSM. Following the reaction of the MP Skender Rexhepi from Alternativa, the leader Levica Dimitar Apasiev withdrew his signature from the motion yesterday, as well as 16 MPs from VMRO-DPMNE.

A majority vote of the total number of MPs is required for the Parliament to pass the no-confidence motion against the Government. If a vote of no confidence is taken, the government is obliged to resign, according to the Constitution. But he remains in office until a new government is elected.

If a vote of no confidence in the Government is passed, the Prime Minister shall submit his resignation to the Parliament within 24 hours of the vote of no confidence, Article 218 of the Rules of Procedure states. The Parliament Speaker shall immediately inform the President about the vote of no confidence in the Government and the resignation.
