Part of the welcoming committee for the visit of Alexis Tsipras to Macedonia were the eight members of Parliament elected on the VMRO-DPMNE ticket, who voted in favor of the Prespa treaty in exchange for amnesties or bribes.

Tsipras met the eight, who later issued a press release saying how they support the Euro-Atlantic integration of “our country”.

The group includes three members of Parliament who were charged with “terrorism” over the April 2017 incident in the Parliament and negotiated amnesties in exchange for their votes to rename Macedonia. Tsipras also met with Vladanka Avirovik, whose son Vasilije recently had his three year prison sentence in a politically motivated corruption case commuted after she voted in favor of the “new name”.

The remaining four are also alleged to be negotiating various amnesties for themselves or close political or personal allies, or to have received bribes and/or government sector jobs for their relatives.
