A video from the missing BESA party member of Parliament Kastriot Rexhepi was shared online this afternoon, after rumors have spread during the entire day that he may have been kidnapped just ahead of the key vote of no confidence in the Zaev Government.
In the video, Rexhepi says that he is well and at an undisclosed location, and indicates that he has now sided with the Zaev Government. It’s not clear whether the video has been made under duress.
The stability of the state and the peace and welfare of our people must be prized above all. Bilal Kasami (BESA party leader) and others should not worry about me. I’m safe, I’m on the right side, on the side of the Albanian people and of the citizens of Macedonia who want peace, stability and democracy. I’m with EU and NATO, and not with the anti-Albanians, Rexhepi says in the video.
Without him, the Parliament is divided 60:59 in favor of the opposition, and the motion to bring down the Zaev Government seems doomed to fail, as it requires 61 votes.
